ImageChawton village bonfire and fireworks event is on at the village hall.

Click below to read the full article for details on the construction, event and tidy-up.

Your support is required in the run-up and tidy-up of this event.

Bonfire construction

Bonfire construction starts at 10:00 on Saturday 10th November, come along and do your bit, make some new friends and burn off a few calories. Supervised children are welcome.

If you want to help, please bring a fork or shovel and a perhaps a pair of gardening gloves

We urgently need dry and screw/nail free wood for the bonfire, please drop off materials in the village hall car park by no later than Saturday 10th. Collection available on Saturday 27th, Contact Rob Sendall, Tim Chilton or Mark Pearson for more information.

The main event

  • The evening starts at 6PM with the bonfire lighting, fireworks start shortly afterwards.
  • Refreshments are available (drinks, burgers, soup, etc)
  • Free sparklers available for children

Note : No sparkers outside of the designated sparkler areas please - this is to prevent burns, simplifies the clear-up and reduce the risk of a used sparkler damaging tyres post the event.

Entry is free, but please make a sensible donation on the gate, so that we can help fund next years event.

Burn-down

We need help to ensure that the bonfire burns down during the evening and is ready for the clear-up on Sunday morning - bring a fork and a jacket.

The tidy-up

We need help to collect the debris from the fireworks and to remove the ash from the bonfire. Please don't leave it to the faithful few, come along and do your bit, it doesn't take long with a sensible sized clear-up team.

You only need a bucket to put things in and some sensible shoes / wellies and gloves if you prefer for firework duty, or a shovel and a rake for the bonfire clear-up.

We need to return the field to the hoses by 11am on Sunday morning, so we start clearing up at 9am.

If you would be able to help, please contact Ann Jolley on 86336 or Tim Chilton on 84267 - or just turn up on the day
