Updated. Chawton Village will be holding its popular annual bonfire and fireworks event on Saturday 8th November 2008.
This year, the location has changed to Knickerknocker hill (behind the recreational ground) The event will feature a selection of hot food and a bar - all located in the cricket club house.
The bonfire will be lit at 7:00pm and the fireworks will start at 7:30pm The bonfire will be on "Simon's Strip" (in front of the cricket green) and the fireworks will be from the land adjacent to Knickerknocker wood. The main entrance to the event will be via the village green (opposite the school) - not via the bridge to the woods, which will be closed due to the position of the bonfire. The spectator area will be on the cricket ground. We need volunteers for the building of the bonfire which will start at 10am on Saturday 8th and the clean-up the following day on Sunday 9th at 10am, we also need materials for the bonfire, so either place materials on the existing heaps or contact Martin Whittock on 88968 or Tim Chilton on 84267 to arrange for materials to be collected or for additional information on the bonfire. Contact Nick Godfrey 89997 for all other queries relating to the main event. The event will be funded via donations, so please donate generously to help ensure that this important and popular village event remains viable in future years. |
