Village Hall - Buy a Brick

Print PDF

ImageChawton Village Hall is currently fundraising to extend the rear of the hall to provide much needed storage and a small meeting room. A total of £80,000 is required for this extension, so far we have raised £48,450 ahead of the works that start in August this year.

We therefore invite you to contribute to the success of this project for the benefit of both current and future generations.

The hall and land is on land donated to the village in 1933 by Edward Knight of Chawton House and was opened in October 1924. The building was constructed by Mr Kemp at a cost of £1127.14 and 2d. The money was raised by the community between 1919 and 1924.

The hall has operated as a registered charity since 1989 and is managed by the Village Hall Committee for the benefit of all village residents and the local community. The committe has dediced to invite you to purchase bricks for the extension in recognition of the way the building was originally constructed.

Bricks cost £5 each and each brick will entitle you to a ticket in a prize draw, held at the opening event of the hall.

If you would like to donate a brick, or simply contribute to our village hall, please send a cheque made payable to "Chawton Village Hall", stating if this is a donatation or a "brick" to:
