ImageLooking after St Nicholas involves a small band of volunteers

Vandalism and Theft

ImageDuring November, there have been a number of cases of vandalism and theft in the village, these include :

  • A broken window at the schoool
  • Eggs being thrown at the school
  • Damage to the sign on the village green
  • Damage to the bin on the wall, by the village green
  • Damage to the electricity supply on the village greeen (leaving it in an unsafe state)
  • Damage to the steps of the school - by a large waste bin
  • Theft of the wheel washing equipment at the Darcy House development.

Ongoing Vandalism and Theft

ImageDuring the recent weeks, there have been an increasing number of cases of vandalism and theft within the village.

This matter has been discussed at length with Lucy Ryan, the village constable. We have been asked to ensure that every incident is reported to the police, either via the 0845 045 45 45 number or 101 as appropriate, alternately via e-mail (click on Lucy's name above)

Lent Lunches

Lent lunches are casual and friendly affairs which you turn up at, with your friends to enjoy a light lunch of home made soup, bread, cheese and fruit.

No charge is made but we ask for a donation to the cause of charify nominated by the hostees of the day.

The Greyfriar - Pub of the Year Finalist

ImageYes the Greyfriar managed to get to the finals of the Fullers Pub of the year competition again.

Having won the competition in for the category village / rural in 2003, failing to get into the finals in 2004, winning in 2005 we were very pleased to be in the final once again for 2006. The competition is for all Fullers pubs whether they are managed or tenanted and is judged in three stages.
