A Whole lot of Rubbish !

ImageSunday morning saw a small group of determined villagers and volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association return to kick off the bi-annual village litter pick - ahead of the various summer activities within the village - starting with the Open Gardens on the 13/14th of June

The litter-pick only took 2-3 hours but collected an amazing 20 full bags of rubbish from around the village.

HMS Chawton - Commissioning

Chawton Rector Conducts Service

On Thursday morning of last week, H.M.S. Chawton, a new costal minesweeper was commissioned at Hythe (H.M.S. Diligence) on the western shore of Southampton Water in the presence of a number of residents of Chawton village, who's name the ship bears. The ship which was built at Fleetlands yard, Gosport, is commanded by Lieut. J. G. Riley, with a crew of 28 ratings and five officers. She is due to sail for the Mediterranean next Monday.

Village Hall - Buy a Brick

ImageChawton Village Hall is currently fundraising to extend the rear of the hall to provide much needed storage and a small meeting room. A total of £80,000 is required for this extension, so far we have raised £48,450 ahead of the works that start in August this year.

We therefore invite you to contribute to the success of this project for the benefit of both current and future generations.

Produce Stall at the Open Gardens weekend? (13/14th June)
We will be selling locally grown vegetables, fruit and flowers, locally made wine, preserves, pickles and chutneys and eggs etc.

South Downs Boundary Confirmed

ImageHilary Benn, the environment secretary today confirmed the boundary of the South Downs National Park. As expected, Chawton has been confirmed to be within the park.
