Following initial dialogue with Hampshire County Council (HCC) and after consultation with the village, most of the the resulting roads proposal has been accepted by HCC
The re-signage will not significantly increase the number of signs through the village and will only re-instate one existing road marking

In order to reduce the amount of dog fouling in the village and paricularly around the village hall, the parish council together with the village hall committee have installed a new dual-purpose bin at the entrance of the village hall car park.
Jane Austen lived in Chawton from 1809 until just before her death in 1817, whilst in the village she wrote and revised a number of books including Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, which she had written some years earlier, and then wrote Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion.
