Hampshire County Council have started their review of subsidised bus services across the County following the significant reductions in Government funding for 2011/12. As part of the review they are seeking views about what type of services are most important to communities, for example work or leisure journeys, times of day when services are most needed, areas where need exists etc to help guide where future funding should be targeted.
Further details can be found on the HCC website via
http://www3.hants.gov.uk/busreview along with a questionnaire by which to make comments. Responses will need to be sent to HCC by
31st May 2011.
HCC are working to the following timeframe:
Review of bus services - Jan-April 2011
Consultation - March - May 2011
Tender appraisal - April-May 2011
HCC Decision day - July 2011
Revised services start - Oct 2011
The review of bus services will also be discussed at the next East Hants Passenger Transport forum, taking place 23rd March. Therefore I would encourage people to attend the next forum meeting in order to be involved in these discussions which will help shape future transport across the District.
