The second the bi-annual litter pick in Chawton took place on Saturday 12th January 2008, this event is designed to clean up the area we all live in and make it more pleasant for those who live here and hopefully make people think twice before chucking out their rubbish in our picturesque village, we base this on the prinicple that the presence of litter makes people feel less concerned about "adding more" to whats already present and the many visitors who come here probably don't want a carrier bag in the hedge spoling their picture.



As part of the parish council's review of traffic parking within the village, Hampshire County Council has performed a speed survey on Wolf's Lane. The results of the survey indicates that the current speed limit is generally at 40-50mph. The full response from HCC is listed below

Well… what an incredible end to my teaching career! I received an overwhelming array of gifts, cards and best wishes for the future from so many. My final school assembly was particularly moving as the children gave such a delightful performance. I am leaving Chawton with such fond memories and I would like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity and for all the amazing events arranged for my farewell which made the last few weeks so special.
East Hampshire District Council have in recent days clarified their position relating to letters of objection for planning applications in light of the "one response per household" debate that has been well publicised locally and in the press over recent weeks.
