Planning - 50467 - Jane Austen Museum

Print PDF

ImageA planning application has been submitted that proposes a number of changes to the internal and external layout of the museum and its grounds.

The proposed changes are titled "Kitchen, Archive Store and Study room Alterations to outbuildings to create visitors reception and shop. New visitor centre within curtilage of Grade 1 listed house and change of use from part dwelling to museum".

In essence most of the changes within the house are to revert a number of rooms to their former period use and layout. The external changes are to create a visitor reception, learning centre in the existing outbuildings and form a separate outbuilding at the back of the current outbuildings.

Public consultation and formal responses are invited by EHDC until the 14th of March, full details can be found at EHDC's Site and the planning reference number is 50467.

There are two related applications, due to the building's listing as Grade-1 status, you may choose to comment on either or both of the separate applications.

The full set of plans are available for public viewing within the granary and informal questions and comments can be submitted to the museum.

Please note that most planning applications are available only to registered members of the web site, but this application is being made publically available, since it affects residents and visitors alike. If you would like to see other planning information relating to the village, you need to register, as detailed in the "frequent questions" part of this site.
