Sunday morning saw a small group of determined villagers and volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association return to kick off the bi-annual village litter pick - ahead of the various summer activities within the village - starting with the Open Gardens on the 13/14th of June
The litter-pick only took 2-3 hours but collected an amazing 20 full bags of rubbish from around the village.
The volunteers started at the meeting point on the recreational ground and split into 4 teams going out in all directions.
We covered the village from the dead-end by the A32 through, the Church, graveyard and cemetry; out to the A32 roundabout, through the village centre; out on Wolf's Lane to the B3349 ; the Winchester Road towards Alton and right up to the Sports Centre car park.
Welcome refreshments were provided by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, who held an event at the village hall during the event to promote their organisations "Love for All, Hatred for None"
We would like to extend a big thankyou to everyone who gave their time to this event and to EHDC for the loan of the litter pickers and collection of our rubbish.
We'd also like to say a big thankyou to the person who chucks their dog poo bags into the undergrowth along from the Gosport Road towards Farringdon. How hard can it be to take it home or find a bin to dispose of it properly - you can leave it in a bag and collect it on the way home - its not difficult.
